Care - Autumn
Every Corazón® Oleander will be supplied with a Corazón information booklet containing tips for care.

Autumn:

Watering: In autumn, the need for water, especially from October onwards, strongly depends on the weather conditions. If it is warm and sunny, you may water the plant several times a week, but if it is cold and rainy, be very careful not to overdo it. Make the drainage hole at the bottom of the flower pot free from roots by poking in it with a pen or twig approximately 15 cm deep. After September you will have to stop adding fertiliser, else the Corazón® Oleander will enter the winter season growing too fast.

Night frost: If you live in an area where night frost may occur in early autumn, you need not be afraid that the Corazón® Oleander will immediately die, because they are very good at surviving night frosts of minus 1 to minus 2 degrees Celsius. Leaving them outside might even be better than taking them into your home too soon, for the Corazón® Oleander needs low temperatures to hibernate.

Hibernation: It is not until very late in autumn, when temperatures often stay below 5 to 6 degrees Celsius during the day as well, that it becomes time to take the Corazón® Oleander inside. Place the Corazón® Oleander in a cool, light spot. Temperatures between 0 and 12 degrees are best, as the Corazón® Oleander will then start on the hibernating period correctly, ensuring it will flower again well the next year.
